Two of the company’s products deserve special mention
for innovativeness. These are the GLICO Group Comprehensive
Policy and the GLICO Anidaso Insurance Policy.
The GLICO Group Comprehensive Policy which is sold to
organizations provides benefits beyond the statutory requirements
of the Workmen’s Compensation Law. Indeed its attractive
benefis have been acknowledges by small, medium and large
organizations including Tema Oil Refinery, Ghana Civil
Aviation Authority and Ghana Telecom to mention a few,
who have taken the policy for their employees. The policy
provides a 24-Hour death and accident cover for the employees
as well as dread disease cover for ailments such as strokes,
heart attack and kidney failure.
The GLICO Anidaso Insurance Policy has been specially
developed for the rural communities and the low-income
earners in the country who are unable to benefit from
conventional life insurance policies because the premiums
are beyond their means. The policy is being sold through
selected rural banks to some farming and fishing communities
in the Central, Ashanti, Eastern and the Volta Regions.
The policy provides death cover for members of the family
and also allows the policy owner to make savings for his
retirement. This policy provides the first formal assurbanking
arrangement between a Ghanaian insurance company and the
banks.
